Welcome to wattacos, a charming cafe nestled in the serene ambiance of Kyoto’s Higashiyama Ward. As you stroll through this historic district, the delightful aroma wafting from wattacos is sure to beckon you inside. This cafe isn’t just a place to grab a bite; it’s a unique culinary experience where innovative concepts meet traditional flavors, all celebrated in a cozy, inviting atmosphere.

At wattacos, the star of the show is undoubtedly their imaginative waffle tacos, which expertly blend sweet and savory delights. Imagine taking a bite of a spicy chicken waffle taco—the crispy, perfectly seasoned chicken nestled in a warm, fluffy waffle, highlighted with a drizzle of honey that elevates every mouthful. As one satisfied customer, Therine Navarro, described, this place fosters a warm community spirit; you might find yourself making friends with the delightful twin owners who go above and beyond to ensure every guest leaves with a smile and a full belly.

You can't miss the dessert options, either. The Nutella banana taco topped with fresh banana slices presents a visually tantalizing treat that tastes even better than it looks. Deb Adams raves about it as her favorite sweet option—one that perfectly balances rich chocolate and creamy banana. Oh, and don’t forget to indulge in a refreshing flavored soda for the perfect pairing!

The atmosphere at wattacos is equally captivating. With an alien-themed decor that sparks curiosity and joy, it creates a playful setting that enhances your dining experience. Seating offers an open-air choice, allowing the gentle Kyoto breeze to complement your meal while you savor each unique offering. Chelsea Caslow describes her time there as “super delightful,” crediting the incredible service and atmosphere that make wattacos a stellar stop after exploring the nearby Yasaka Shrine.

In conclusion, whether you're craving a quick snack or looking for a spot to enjoy a leisurely bite, wattacos promises a delicious escape that caters to all tastes. Their menu is a testament to creativity and flavor, making it a must-visit destination for both locals and tourists alike. So, don’t just walk by—step into this delightful world of waffle tacos and make some delicious memories!

Left my mom and aunt in this place for about an hour then when I got back, they were already friends with the owners! The owners are twins and they're welcoming and accommodating to their customers. The place is so cute with a very unique concept. The food was served with good presentation and the taste is justifiable for it's price. Tried banana nutella and spicy fried chicken and loved it. It's a very good food to try after a long walk from Sannenzaka!

Oh my goodness this was so good! We tried all three of the savory options as well as three of the dessert options. Our favorite savory was the teriyaki followed by the spicy chicken- be sure to say yes to the honey. The Nutella banana was our favorite sweet option we tried. Unique and delicious!

Both savory and sweet options for everyone. The spicy chicken waffle was outstanding! We also enjoyed the flavored sodas.

Delicious waffle taco, perfect snack after visiting Yasaka Shrine! The smell walking past pulled us in and the food and service did not disappoint. The Oreo Nutella waffle + pineapple soda was a great combo. Highly recommend!

A super delightful experience! We stopped here for dessert and the atmosphere and service were incredible. We sat out in the open air and loved the alien theme. I ordered the Nutella and banana taco and my husband ordered the mango soda. Both were exceptional and truly a unique treat! They even have stickers available for purchase. This is also close to the shrines but hidden enough to get away from the crowded streets of Kyoto

What an awesome hidden gem in Kyoto! Wattacos puts a fun spin on waffle tacos — I had the Teriyaki Chicken waffle with a refreshing grape soda, and my brother went for the Spicy Fried Chicken. Both were absolutely delicious! The waffles were warm and crispy, and the fillings were packed with flavor. There was only one young woman running the place, and she was so kind and welcoming — it really made the experience special. Whether you're into savory like bulgogi or sweet treats like Oreo Nutella, there’s something for everyone. I’ll truly miss this spot when I leave Japan. Just a short walk away and totally worth it — highly recommend!

Came back here for a second time, can’t remember if I left a review the first time I was here. This place deserves more that 5 stars. Me and my family came back here for breakfast before we leave Kyoto for good. We had all of our luggage with us when it started to poor rain. We had left our luggage outside and one of the very kind ladies that work here took it apon herself to go out in the rain and cover our luggage with a tarp while we sat here and ate. Unbelievable service, unbelievable food. This is one of my favourite spots in all of Kyoto and even all of Japan. Thank you WattTacos

I don’t have enough words to describe how happy I am that I stopped here (twice so far, and surely again before I leave Kyoto). The owners are LOVELY very friendly, and amazing at what they do. I hope my photos can speak for themselves - I have never had a waffle taco before and I am going to miss it so much when I leave! Also, even the napkins have been adorably personalized with the alien logo. An absolute highlight of my visit to Kyoto, thank you Wattacos
